On January 19th, 2026, an EADB team led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Charles Mwamwaja, Ag. Director General Benard Mono, and Tanzania Country Manager Stephen Wambura paid a courtesy visit to the new Minister of Finance for Tanzania and a new member of the Bank's Governing Council, H.E Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar.

The visit served as a formal welcome to H.E Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar to the Bank's Governing Council and gave the team an opportunity to introduce the Bank, the work it does and its rich history in the nation of Tanzania.

During the visit, H.E Ambassador Omar highlighted the Bank's crucial role in the development of the region and urged the Bank to continue creating programs that meet the economic needs of the nation of Tanzania and overall East African region.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Charles Mwamwaja, touched on the Bank's 2024-2028 strategy. This strategy is designed to respond to the region’s changing needs, create an understanding of the Bank's important role and expand its vision of promoting sustainable socio-economic development in East Africa.
